My loyal fans which consists of at least six persons may have been wondering where I have been for the last week – I have been wondering that, too. The email seems to come in by the bucketful and, of course, it all needs to be read, and, believe me, since the present administration, it is all bad, bad, bad. And some of it is worse!
My son told me a long time ago to be more frugal in printing out stuff as cartridge ink ends up costing $3500 a gallon! Well, of course, I only buy it in ounces at a time, but then I go thru it like a dose of salts! So I’ve tried, but my computer room looks as if a paper storm had occurred somewhere what with all the unfiled piles of printed stuff lying on every flat surface available.
The latest one dated May 14, however, had me as mad as a wet hen! This was a bulletin from the World Net Daily by Bob Unruh reporting in a proposal pending in Congress and sponsored by Rep John Dingell, D.Mich, “To equip the FDA with the authority and funding it needs to regulate what is now a global marketplace for food, Drugs, Devices and Cosmetics.”
I used to think Dingell was on the consumers’ side, but I see now that was a gross error in judgment on my part. You see, in about 1979 he was chairman of a committee looking into the depredations the FDA made into health food stores and other illegalities perpetrated on medical doctors who had the audacity to leave the fold of packaged thinking and branch off into alternatives. I was amazed to learn Dingell was still in the House and it does seem as if perhaps old age has made him a little bit ditzy about Americans Constitutional rights!
I’m doing all this from memory, you understand, although I have the documents on my shelf and just too lazy to get them to run thru to refresh my memory. The fact is I actually wrote a book, Devil’s Food, in which I documented the “crime against pure food and drugs” committed by this agency. That, in fact, was the title of a book penned by Dr. Wylie who founded the FDA around the beginning of the 20th Century, and who found it was more criminal than the organizations it was founded to contain! That’s on my shelf too, and I will get it down one of these days.
I spent about 6 months putting my book Devil’s Food together to prove that the then more than 10,000 chemicals in the food chain were/are responsible for much of the persistent ill health plaguing Americans today. When you add the artificial foods (white buns, white bread which bear no relation to bread as we used to know it, artificially effervescent beverages consumed by the gallon, the chemicals fed the beef, chickens and other livestock which are then passed to the consumers, the list goes on and on) along with the drugs we are prescribed as “cures” for the resultant plagues which afflict us, it is a wonder we are not all in wheelchairs, not to mention grossly overweight, but we are getting there. Fodder for the Obamacare health program!
The government has taken the position that we, the consumers, have no right to decide for ourselves what we will eat. That is in a brief filed in April to support a “motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund over the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s ban on the interstate sale of raw milk.”
The position taken by the government’s attorneys was “There is no ‘deeply rooted’ historical tradition of unfettered access to foods of all kinds…..Plaintiffs assertion of a ‘fundamental right to their own bodily and physical health, which includes what foods they do and do not choose to consume for themselves and their families’ is similarly unavailing because plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to obtain any food they wish,’” argues government lawyers.
Raw milk has been the target for years, despite the fact the barns of the producers of it are kept immaculately, as compared to those where the milk is sterilized by pasteurization and then homogenized. Years and years ago studies showed the milk so treated – and after all it is produced to feed another cow – will not keep the calf alive anywhere from 3 to 6 months or less, because all living elements have been destroyed and what is passed on are the hormones given the cow to produce more milk! This is all a matter of record.
About ten years ago I had a cat come to me, and I can see him yet as he crawled across the gravel drive, his great eyes fixed on me and when he was close enough I could see he was on the verge of total starvation. He had no hair on his tail, and his body was no wider than his back bone. His face looked as if every wild creature in our area (we do have skunks, raccoons, havelinas, coyotes) had a pass at him.
We could still get raw milk and that’s what I gave him for two weeks, until he demonstrated he could handle stronger foods, such as cat food. He turned out to be a long-haired beautiful grey and white six-year old male. That bony protuberance with no hair became a plumy fan while his face and eyes radiated intelligence. He owed it all to the raw milk which very shortly disappeared forever from stores.
Do you remember the story about Daniel who refused to eat the rich foods of the King and begged for a 10-day trial to prove his diet of vegetables (pulse) was healthier – and so it turned out to be. I have only begun to touch on this subject so we’ll have to go at it again soon because this bill to take away your right to make your own choices in food is pending in Congress now. We can add it to the insults being hurled at your freedoms by the incumbents about which you are speaking up, I hope. Unless you do, you know, the future looks pretty dim.
