Honors for the last Beatle

Last Dec. 28, 2011 I sat through a portion of a dreary “honors” ceremony at Kennedy Center.  Why did I subject myself to such an interminable evening?   I wanted to hear what would be said about Paul McCartney, last of the “Beatles,” inasmuch as they were thrust upon our society with a resounding bang and it was all downhill from there!  I couldn’t imagine why he should be honored in the U.S. at the supposedly prestigious Kennedy Center. What has he contributed to upgrade our society?

On their first  visit to the U.S. in 1964, their press officer, Derek Taylor, described them as,  “incredible, absolutely incredible,...Here are these four boys from Liverpool.  They’re rude, they’re profane, they’re vulgar, and they’ve taken over the world.  It’s as if they had founded a new religion.  They’re completely anti-Christ.  I mean, I am anti-Christ as well, but they’re so anti-Christ, they shock me, which isn’t an easy thing.”  

So what changed to bring out an  impressive crowd, suitably garbed in black tie?  What did this quartet of rowdies do to rate the riches, garnishments, plaudits they received from the thousands of teen-agers and young adults in which they basked?

That night I hoped in vain McCartney might be among the early nominees, but  apparently he was last, although I can’t be sure whether anyone followed him or whether he was, indeed, the apex! because I turned it off after his introduction by which time I was quite tired of the whole thing.  He sat next to the Obamas in a side balcony, where his  thin, dyed reddish tresses showed up quite clearly in the overhead spotlight.  The Obamas, I heard,  were going on vacation and  I squelched the thought when are they NOT on vacation? 

Clearly the whole event was designed to honor those of the left in what  remains of our so-called cultural circles. One featured item was Jerry Herman’s La Cage aux Folle,  an early entry years ago in the homosexual battle for equal rights as if these afflicted people were a special race of some kind.  The plot was a glamorized story of two males, living together, raising a straight son. Kind of a remake of Auntie Mame, and was an early not-so subtle weapon in the sex war which  began after the publication of the many-flawed Kinsey Report.  Just as in Auntie Mame a huge crucifix was mounted on the back wall for the second act.  And guess who came to laud the production?  Angela Lansbury.  I liked her in Auntie Mame, but I didn’t on December 28, 2010!

Alec Baldwin apparently was practicing for his next job as a narrator for musical events, praised McCartney, saying he had “married rock and roll to beauty, and created many of our favorite songs,” and marveled at him as “ the great musical adventure of the 20th Century.”   Nothing said, however, about the Beatles’ contribution to the downgrading of American culture, a decline both sad and deplorable.

All this  adulation pored out upon this icon recalled to mind Dr. David Noebel’s revelations about rock and roll music, and its principal source:   Lenin’s desire to “rework culture,” to build “a proletarian (Communist) culture,”  for which the Russian Association of Proletarian Musicians was formed to carry on the war.  “The comrades were assured that classical music was ’bourgeois,’ whereas folk music was the music of the ‘exploited and oppressed classes.’“ 

Dr. Noebel said the goal was “the extension of proletarian Communist influence …to direct …creative talents toward socialist upbuilding.’”  and quotes a columnist lauding the Beatles “have gone further than all the contemporary folk song writers in that they are not so obvious in their philosophy.” (from Marxist Minstrels, 1974, A Handbook on Communist Subversion of Music). Dr. Noebel pointed out their “drenched-in-drugs album, ‘Sgt Peppers’ Lonely Hearts Club Band,’ featured a montage of ‘faces crowding about themselves.  Ringo frankly admits, ‘We just thought we would like to put together a lot of people we like and admire.’  Among these was Karl Marx.’” (same source)

So notorious did this quartet of demoralizing songsters become,  the Saturday Evening Post was moved to write of the decline of the British Empire and charged the Beatles as “antic anesthetists.”  That was bad enough but in 1964 the British Government handed the Beatles an MBE (British Empire Award) and says the Queen announced this on her birthday.  Dr. Noebel noted in time past “such honors came to men and women who had accomplished a great deal in the field of arts, letters, business, science and medicine, i.e., men and women had a spent a lifetime working to make something of themselves and to contribute to the welfare and knowledge of their fellowmen.” 

Consequently, Dr. Noebel relates, medals were returned –“poured back to the Queen in protest from all over the world.”  One protester returned “all 12 of his medals.  This man had won all his awards in WWI and WWII, and the Afghan Campaign.”  He wrote a letter of protest along with them and removed the Labor Party from his will!

John Lennon so reverently revered by the American press, especially since his assassination, was devoted to the concepts of revolution which apparently appeared in many of their songs – I don’t know—I never listened, nor was their music ever part of our family life.  He wrote a song ‘Working Class Hero’ which he described as “a song for the revolution.” “A working class hero is something to be.” He handed,  at a dinner one night to two known radicals,  an envelope with $5,000 and the NY columnist who wrote it up,  quoted Lennon saying he “hoped some of the money would assist members of the SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) being sought for several bomb outrages.”   There are, of course, pages and pages regaling  the outrages inflicted on the public by these four radicals, all while counting out the shekels and dispensing their favors to the youth of our land.

Dr.Noebel summed it up:  “Drugs, promiscuous sex, and the Beatles’ consistent anti-Christian stance account for the basic reasons for the New Left’s honeymoon with the English teddy boys.”

McCartney’s marital problems have continued to titillate the press who feed them to their readers fairly often, but most of us have the feelings:  Who cares? They have done enough damage to our society.  Let them die in peace and throw the shovel in after them!

Not to mention the resultant downgrading of American youths’ musical tastes, antagonistic to normal mental health, while  the words were designed to downgrade American society. 

Reflections

When the NAFTA and GATT agreements were under consideration years ago, I concluded the only one to profit from their passage would be my dentist over which I spent so much time gnashing my teeth  I was in danger of grinding down to the gums. 

Weeks later I was really pleased  when  United Parcel Service cancelled some of its ground services in Mexico after struggling for two years against Mexican indifference.  UPS complained the Mexican authorities made time-consuming inspections at the border—for which there was no reciprocity on their trucks heading north.

Long-time Los Angeles reporter George Putnam complained no inspection was given to Mexican sealed trucks when they came into the U.S.—trucks which could contain anything, including drugs and illegals.  This was the Clinton era, and we were all amazed when Mickey Kantor, his employee,  said Mexico was in violation of the NAFTA agreement, but even he  was unable to get the Mexicans to relent.   Their law demands the inspection of every package no matter how small.  And UPS couldn’t get permission to use their 18-wheelers inside Mexico, since it costs a bundle to drive a lot of small trucks which can’t take Mexican roads anyway.

Mexico’s rural roads are more like rock-strewn rubble tracks.  My son-in-law took these roads over many a long weary mile in his missionary chores into the back hills.  I’ve seen his pictures of the truck at the end of such journeys with the tires torn and twisted and wheels mostly riding on the rim.

During the Congressional debates I somehow connected the name of Harry Dexter White, Soviet agent, and next-in-command in the U.S. Treasury in Roosevelt’s and Morgenthau’s day, with GATT, so I went hunting thru my scrapbooks.  Found it too.  Came up with a review of GATT in a 1958 American Mercury magazine.  Mercury pointed out the GATT trade agreement “would transfer authority over American tariff policies to an international body, (original emphasis) in which we are hopelessly outnumbered.  It would give foreigners a dangerous leverage over our economic life.”  Well, it has certainly done that. And aren’t we even now knuckling under to the supposedly passe’ government of the so-called “former” Soviets only we now refer to them as Russia, as if that changes the nature of the beast!

Harold Lord Varney, then Mercury editor, pointed out Art. 1, Sec. 8, of the Constitution gave Congress, not the President, the sole authority to regulate foreign commerce.  I was interested to note the people’s interpreter of the Constitution, Rush Limbaugh, did not allow discussion of “free trade” even though he wanted a change at the ballot box.  That, too, was a lame-duck Congress, just as we have now rushing thru the START Treaty with the collusion of the “new” Senator from Massachusetts, what’isname? Scott something or other, or is it somethingorother Scott?  What a disgrace to the State that used to pride itself on being “the cradle of liberty” --or did that disappear with the Kennedy take-over?

Back to GATT and NAFTA.   In 1955, the American Bar Association opined , “Neither the President, nor Congress has the legal authority under the Constitution, to delegate the regulation of our commerce with foreign nations to a foreign-controlled group.” At the time of Varney’s writing, we had already given $60 billion in foreign aid, but now, he said, we were being asked to “turn over the American home market, at the expense of American industry and labor.” (That $60 billion was just a down payment on what we have given since! And are still giving!)

Even earlier, in 1934, Congress passed the Reciprocal Trade Agreements Act which transferred the authority to negotiate tariff rates to the President.  Varney showed that same year,the U.S. exported 650 cars to England, at the same time, we imported 63,380 British cars in the first ten months! A whole study needs doing on this.

During WWII Roosevelt appointed an Executive Committee on Economic Foreign Policy which evolved eventually into the United Nations Economic and Social Council.  Participating in these post-war tariff plannings were Alger Hiss, Harry Dexter White, V. Frank Coe, and Victor Perlo, all of them on U.S. payrolls, but all of them secret agents of the Soviets, and none of whom had the welfare of the U.S. in mind!

This is like waving a red flag!  As Varney said, “All of these men were later named before a Congressional Committee as members of the Communist apparatus in Washington.”  The international enforcement agency, the World Trade Organization “was born in the mind of Harry Dexter White, accused Communist spy ring member.” So was the International Monetary Fund (IMF)  as well as the World Bank, which are still siphoning U.S. dollars. (Both of which have dismal records in the financial world)

One immediate result was the disappearance of American woolen and worsted mills which formerly furnished 40,000 jobs.  Most of us don’t even remember we ever had a textile industry, or American cotton, pottery, watches, shoes, American oil, American electronics, lumber, small appliances, just some of the endangered species in Varney’s time and now extinct—with less concern from the left than the endangered spotted owl gets.     

BRAINWASHING – 21st Century Style

Most Americans are totally unaware of the brainwashing which attends their every day,  not just from the slant given to the news by the writers of the news blobs handed to familiar faces to be read on screen, but by long term icons of Americanism, i.e.,  the magazines ladies bring home from the grocery store, the drug store or anywhere else popular magazines are sold.  When I was a housewife and mother, I read these icons of the American home as if they were my Bible, clipping recipes, noting new hair, dress styles, and all the “tips” on child raising. 

Then one night I had an epiphany!   I attended a meeting which I knew was Communist-sponsored and discovered a female author of child-raising techniques I had followed in my favorite women’s magazine was also a writer for known Red-sources.  That night I sat up late, mentally reviewing my philosophy on child raising, on issues to which my mother had often objected, to which I would respond, “Oh, Mother, you’re just old-fashioned!”  Well, so, okay, when did “old-fashioned” equal no good?   

I also knew how brain-washed many G.I.’s became as prisoners of the Reds during the Korean War and Viet Nam.   Those who succumbed were those young men who did not have a strong orientation toward American history and/or American family life.  As it happens, the college-bound youth of that era and especially during the Viet Nam era were equally brainwashed in their University classes by their leftwing professors, who promoted the impressionable youths’ anti-war protests from coast to coast, aimed particularly at returning vets--- victims of  the same type of vitriol and venom spewed by the so-called Rev. Wright into the minds of his congregation. 

You see, the “plan” was to oppose American participation in war, if that war was appeared aimed at Reds as were both the Asian “wars,” but it was okay in Spain when the “red” side was promoted as the correct side and Americans were urged to participate by the same people who just a few years later opposed the anti-Red wars!  

Edward Hunter who made the most comprehensive expose’ of brainwashing in a book of that title sixty years ago, said:  “The most diabolical intrigues of the past never descended to such dark, unstirred depths.  There is something repulsive and against nature in it.  This is not easy for the normal mind to grasp.”

Matt Cvetic, a counterspy in the Communist Party during the so-called “cold war” sixty years ago, was totally familiar with the slanting of Communist doctrines from many years of subjection to their literature, from an active, ongoing network of dedicated Communists, espionage agents, disinformation agents, all working to bring down the republic established in Philadelphia so long ago. 

Cvetic said they paid particular attention to educational matters:  “I learned that the Communists and their sympathizers concentrated their crafty planning, knowing that if they can inject their ideology into our schools they can go a long way to bringing to fruition their Marxist aims in America.  They know if they can destroy the children’s respect for parents, home, country, fellow-man and church, and instill in its place a shallow materialistic concept of life, their psychological battle for American minds is more than half won.”  

Bella Dodd, a former Communist Party leader as well as a practicing attorney, confirmed the role of the Communist teacher in making converts from hitherto innocent American students, confirmed Cvetic’s observations from her own inner-circle knowledge, but, she added, “not gaining under the label of Communist, but by having its operators operate under many different labels, under many different titles…It is the most terrifying thing to watch, ….I think that every American needs to understand this thing, needs to understand that it is not just communism.  It is not just the word ‘communism,’ because that has become very obnoxious.  We have made it unpopular.  But they are selling us the whole program in little bits.”

Little drops of poison over a long period of time, creating a new concept or right and wrong, as water wears away stone creating stalactites and stalagmites……Communists will use the schools and every other educational medium, whether it be comic books or the radio and television; they will use every educational medium…from the nursery school to the universities…Toynbee once said there were 19 civilizations since the dawn of history, 16 were destroyed from within.  Communist units were on the campuses of all the city colleges…”  and then Dodd specified, “Columbia, Vassar, Wellesley, Smith, Harvard, MIT, and a dozen or more other state universities –……..first of all there must be a mental revolution, an orientation to a wholly new conception of society…..”  a process which has continued for lo, these over sixty years!

Through these 6 decades, brainwashing of the public has moved on in high gear to create that mental revolution.  The  public, once  students in our communist infiltrated schools, are now receptive to the leftwing doctrines molding the thought patterns of Americans of every age.  This is how the so-called “social democrats” gained ascendency in the political arena, particularly in the Congress.

I wrote many pages on it in my book, “In the Presence of Our Enemies, joining a long list of authors, one of whom,  Dr. David Noebel  observed the “first  U.S.  ambassador to the Soviet Union (who) thought the greatest tragedy of the West is that its leaders—….simply are incapable of grasping or understanding the nature of the enemy bent upon their destruction.”  Noebel then added  the plans…designed to destroy our nation, are precise and exact…..the Kremlin maintains it will not raise the Red flag over America—the Americans will raise it themselves! “ (The Marxists Minstrels, A Handbook on Communist Subversion of Music, 1974)

Edward Hunter, previously mentioned, stumbled onto brainwashing  during his years in China as a foreign correspondent,  “I found it was a strategy for the conquest of the world…that it was not merely another tactic, but was the framework for the entire activity of the Communist hierarchy….A more exact term ..would be mind attack…They have based their technique primarily on the complete abandonment of morality.  That is their contribution to world thought…..”

Nevertheless Communists  now operate from the underground so many Americans are now convinced Communism died with the so-called passing of the Soviet Union,  overlooking the fact communism is a philosophy which permeates all aspects of American life and is totally in opposition to the philosophy which created this country. 

All this reminiscing  brought on because this week I  received two  issues containing the same ad in two different women’s magazines.  Years of abstinence from such mental dope had caused me to forget all I learned about mind bending and  I fell for a Madison-Ave hype and subscribed to these two old favorites.  So what happened?  Both magazines contained  the opening guns of a campaign  by the nation’s enemies which will continue for however long it takes them to win— it is pretty well along already!  I had to do a double-take on this particular ad, however, as  pretty  subtle.

Bible students will not easily be  persuaded to accept the campaign now being waged to  tolerate same sex marriage as containing equal rights as male-female marriage.  That marriage originated in the book of Genesis.  Subtlty the snake is still offering his poisoned fruit1

The December issue of two of the surviving popular women’s home-style magazines replete with recipes, home and table decorations, opened their magazines with identical very subtle ad, promoting the homosexual lifestyle as “family.”  Both had  exactly the same expensive two-page display, beginning with the inside of the cover itself, on the left, featuring the very dolled-up photo of a well-known lesbian under a banner,  “What do you do when you’re the #1 anti-aging foundation? Start a family”  The right hand page features a display for Cover Girl and Olay:  “Simply ageless family------- “ 

The ad is subtle.  Deviants of either sex do not bear children, but they do adopt, as judges  abet the fall of the American family by permitting it –   Some Catholic adoption agencies shut down, feeling they have no other recourse. State agencies are still functioning.  The Trojan horse is inside the gates. 

International Debt Crises

The news that England is in bad shape financially added to the list of the PIIGs is  a bad omen.  For one like myself who has no real knowledge of international finances, what can you do but speculate?  How is it possible that so many governments are in deep, deep do?  Not only that, but the timing of it is so strange.  All of them, all at once?  Or apparently so.

The little town in which I live just recently announced it was in a deep deficit, which  did not, however, stop them from continuing the building of a very elaborate and massive recreation center which was practically on the verge of default.  So what did they do?  They raised a local tax to 3% which means when you buy groceries you pay that much to them, and this is the principal shopping center for a number of nearby small towns.  We sport a super WalMart, of course, plus a Home Depot and three grocery centers. 

Add to the mess the state of Arizona is in, Phoenix is in, along with a number of Phoenix subdivisions, and all of them have just one thought:  taxpayers!

A few years ago I went to Phoenix to enter Arizona Heart Hospital which meant my companion and I checked into a nearby hotel.  I only mention this because Jane, the friend that drove me down, stayed there a couple days to keep me company, and we were both shocked.  It wasn’t the price of the hotel room but there was a tax on it besides all the other taxes designated  especially for the Diamondbacks, the baseball team!  A few months later there was a tv discussion about the wages paid to the athletes for playing a game, which are not just astronomical, but downright shocking! Yet if you look at the number of empty seats in the arena, that is also shocking!

That isn’t what I wanted to say, just wanted to put that on the record.  What was on my mind, however, was the IMF  which seems to have all kinds of clout despite its shabby origins – which no one ever seems to mention.  Did you know it was an outgrowth of the plotting done at Bretton Woods,  Dumbarton Oaks, and eventually San Francisco at which the notorious traitor Alger Hiss presided—only it is amazing how few people remember that name or why it is infamous!  If you do know what went on then, you can only shake your head in wonderment that agencies created by people who were on the payroll of the United States’ State Department yet were agents of the Soviet Union could continue administering untold sums of money even to this day!  The  two who put their heads together and came up with the International Monetary Fund were John Maynard Keynes, a Fabian Socialist Brit, and Harry Dexter White, a Soviet agent to whom the then Treasurer of the U.S. Morgenthau, had given all authority to deal with the economies of other countries on behalf of the U.S.!  When White was eventually unmasked, his counterpart, Frank Coe, succeeded him as head of the IMF for six years!  The record according to former employees is 70% failure of all the projects sponsored by IMF!

IMPOVERISHING THE UNITED STATES

 

It didn’t begin with the election of Obama, even if he has done everything to hasten it.  Nor did it happen overnight or even in the last couple of administrations, although it is safe to say, there probably hasn’t been an occupant of the White House since Roosevelt that could possibly have not known.  And, as Jefferson once stated, “what is past is prologue.”

A government report on Activities of U.S.Citizens Employed by the U.N., prepared by the U.S. Senate in March, 1954, identified several Soviet agents employed in the State Department for many years such as Harry Dexter White, William Ullman, Nathan Silvermaster and Frank Coe, and, of course, as we now know, with the 2009 publication of Spies, The Rise and Fall of the KGB in America, the actual number and the length of time covered, has always been vastly under reported.  No doubt Joseph McCarthy had to die to cover up the army of Soviet agents employed in the American government, making policy and subverting the policies they didn’t make!

John Howland Snow apparently didn’t need to know who, how many, and where they were, to write his 1946 epic, Government by Treason, as he did about the Bretton Woods/Dumbarton Oaks/San Francisco meetings where the United States was essentially given over to the world government crowd.  Also emerging from those individuals, unknown, unseen, unelected, came the plot to change the culture into a new shape of their choosing of the whole world—but certainly of the United States.  Snow said Americans were being taxed to support the world in contradiction to the expressed precepts of our Nation’s founders.  He quoted President Benjamin Harrison that “We have no commitment to police the world.”  What upset Snow was that not only were we being conned into policing the world, but into financing our future downfall as well, through the establishment of the World Bank and the IMF. 

As did everyone at the time, Snow credited the Secretary of the Treasury with the concept of “divided Germany by force of arms,” (which later turned out to be Stalin’s plan funneled through Treasury through  his man, Harry White), but Snow was astute enough to recognize “Morgenthau’s plan for an America conquered by force of debt.”

AT the time Morgenthau told  a House Banking Committee “the Bretton Woods agreements are good for every American citizen.  They involve jobs and profits…They govern the amount of food on the family table, the money for a new radio, schoolbooks for the children….”  Just how was not explained and has never been explained—how an international give-away agency over which we have absolutely no control, but started on American tax dollars was to benefit “schoolbooks for the children, or buy food or a radio,” remains a mystery.

Snow wrote”….the plain fact of the matter is that, through the control of finance, of money, and of the lending of money that is the commercial lifeblood of the Nation, top operators of the money racket are in this thing right up to the hilt.  They put their apparent enemies—the Communists and liberals—on the radio, and they pay them.  They put the latter on their editorial and by-line payrolls, and pay them.  They put them in the Government and make us pay them.  But the small imperialist group, and the tiny Communist group are in the game.  Each small group is using the other.  Maybe somebody is using both.  When each has gone as far as he can, they will come to open clash.  Unless our great free people break this thing, one of those two are going to rule….”  Imagine. 1946.  And the time seems to be now. 

Morgenthau was elated at the establishment of the two new international give-away agencies and cheered “that we in the United States are thoroughly sincere in our devotion to the principle of international cooperation.” Two new agencies which we financed but over which have no control.

Snow said Truman had already forgiven 42 billion at one time of this indebtedness—even as new loans were being made to nations who had no assets—“Here in so many words, is  international OPA.  IT, together with its satellite, the International Trade Organization, is to tell—not individuals, not trade groups, but whole nations of people—from whom they shall buy, to whom they shall sell, and how much—if anything at all—they shall pay or be paid on delivery.

“World trade, world cartel, world super-government control through capital regulations—as a permanent arrangement.”  Then Snow predicted the “struggle to come between the communist state and the financial corporate state.”

Snow was aware the driving force behind the Brits’ presence at Bretton Woods was John Maynard Keynes, Fabian Socialist and British sodomite, who christened the “debtor utopia” as “epoch making.” Snow agreed and pointed to the Marxist principle, “The surest way to overturn the social order is to debauch the currency.”  He quoted the British edition of the ‘stabilization fund, “The Clearing Union might become the instrument of policies in addition to those which is its primary purpose to support…The Union might become the pivot of the future economic government of the world.”

Snow said the whole scheme was “playing international  poker with a rigged deck. The house cannot lose.  The people cannot win.”

He didn’t even know how rigged the house was.

It was several years later before the Senate committee established that Communist conspirators took a leading part in the founding of the organizations which became specialized agencies of the U.N., as well as the U.N. itself—or at least, before ‘they’ let the American people in on their dirty little secret.  To this day, most Americans still don’t know—or do they care?

In 1957, Senator George Malone (NV) questioning a State Department employee, remarked, “The only trouble with Khrushchev and
Bulganin is, they are for Russia, like Churchill is for England.  We are the only nation the the world that breed people who are not for it.  Some of our very honest one-worlder people want to divide the taxpayer’s money and markets with foreign nations – they say to keep the peace.  Some of them really believe that by breaking or own taxpayers that we will have world peace…If you will complete the record of when the Export-Import Bank was organized and how much money was authorized and appropriated at first, then we will assume the $5 billion is what we are responsible for now.  The International Monetary Fund?  When was that organized and where?

Mr. Burgess: That was the result of the Bretton Woods Act in 1945.

Senator Malone:  Bretton Woods. Was that where our distinguished American citizen Harry Dexter White was in charge?

Mr. Burgess:  That is right, he and Maynard Keynes, a British economist.

Senator Malone: He was the one who said, “the more money you owe, the richer you are?

Mr. Burgess: Something like that…..”

Further conversation elicited the information the IMF was set up with gold and Senator Malone asked where did the IMF get the gold, and learned “it was part of the terms of the setup…”

He was told a “lot of very theoretical economists and so one, Maynard Keynes and Harry White, what they finally came down with after all their discussions was they had to make it in gold, they had to base it on gold…”

Snow predicted “Here was WPA on a world wide scale:  here was World Political Authority designed to encircle the globe.  You and I, American taxpayers, are expected to pay for it – and we have been ever since.  Do you wonder we are on the verge of bankruptcy?

To which Snow predicted “We die of yellow fever.  We see the ominous beginning of an international ownership of the United States.”   Not only did the Soviets have 12 official delegates at Bretton Woods, but more importantly, most of the so-called American representatives were also on the Soviet’s side—even payroll.  Which led Snow to muse, “No wonder this thing has been hushed up.”

Another economic journalist of that era, Garet Garrett wrote the epitaph:  “The ultimate purpose is political, namely to redistribute the wealth of the world in favor of underprivileged nations.”

In Memorium, 9-11-01

As Lincoln said at Gettysburg, the world will little remember the words spoken about that day, but they will remember the deeds.  So it is with 9/11/01.  Recently I ran across a little known story of that day which (without permission from the copyright owners)  I thought deserved the telling,  different as it is from the human stories, so I will tell you the source so you can get your own copy.

I was reading a small book “Miracle Cats, Inspiring True Tales of Remarkable Felines,” by Brad & Sherry Steiger, 2003, who have also authored similar books I have not read, Dog Miracles and   Animal Miracles. 

The last chapter about Cats relates the authors’ son and wife were miraculously minutes away from the Trade Center, thus escaped harm.  Then wrote: “The many days, weeks, and months that followed the search-and-rescue efforts in the terrorist-ravished area continued to provide both ghastly and frightful images, as well of those of miraculous recoveries through the tireless efforts of the firemen and volunteer workers in the midst of the devastation and danger to their own lives.  Although the media focused on the human lives involved, many other stories of pain and joy also came to light regarding the lives lost or saved of cherished and beloved pets.  The following story is such an account.

“’This is the first good story I’ve heard’ said Suffolk County Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Chief, Roy Gross, referring to the rescue of Precious, a beautiful pedigree white Persian cat from the debris of a severely damaged apartment building across from the World Trade Center.  Precious was taken to the nearby Suffolk County SPCA van that was on the scene to treat search-and-rescue dogs for exposure and exhaustion.

‘Precious was dubbed “the miracle kitty” by the New York Post when its October 18, 2001, issue reported the amazing story of survival.  Precious had multiple injuries and was so dirty, confused, dazed, and dehydrated that SPCA Chief Gross could hardly believe the stamina of the cat to survive eighteen days without food.  As he and others later determined, Precious had most likely drunk from pools of contaminated water atop the wreckage to stay alive.

‘D. J. Kerr, owner of Precious, told the New York Post, that the survival of her beloved cat was unbelievable.  "It’s a miracle,” she said. “I can’t believe she is alive.” D.J. and her husband, Steve, had already experienced a miracle in that they were out of town when the tragedy occurred.  After so many days and nights has passed, they had given up on their Precious, assuming she was dead.

‘The Kerrs had been out of town for a long weekend, and they had left Precious secure and safe in the care of a house sitter who was to have checked in on Precious at 10:00 on the morning of the terrorist attack.  Sadly and needless to say, the house sitter didn’t make it, since the atrocity took place shortly after 9:00 am.  Judging by the extent of the damage done to their apartment, the Kerrs didn’t see how their cat could have survived.

‘Their loft apartment in the seven-story apartment building on Liberty Street was in the direct blast and backlash from the Trade Center, and all the windows were completely blown out.  Fire and water had ravaged the interior of the apartment and filled it with bits of metal, dust, and smoke.  The Kerrs were told it would be a minimum of nine months before they could return to inhabit their once comfortable home.

‘Incredibly, emergency workers at Ground Zero told of someone hearing the meowing cries of a cat atop the apartment building on Saturday night, September 29, eighteen full days after the attack.  Responding to the possibility of saving the cat, the workers sent a recovery dog to do some fancy maneuvering and to locate the cat, which was most likely injured, and bring it to safety.

‘The recovery dog did its duty, and soon a tattered cat was taken to the SPCA van. With burnt paws from the intense heat, her eyes badly damaged from flying debris, glass, metal, and dust, and having lost two of its nine pounds, Precious would recover from the harrowing ordeal and be reunited with her surprised and elated owners.

‘The Kerrs welcomed Precious home with her favorite treat, turkey.  She ate turkey and drank water like she was making up for the eighteen days she managed to stay alive with no food or good water.  Precious purred throughout her entire homecoming meal, contented to be with her loving owners.  Precious, as a Persian, a breed said by some to be somewhat snooty and elitist, probably even overlooked the fact that it was a dog that carried her in its slobbery mouth from the top of the ruins to safety!

‘A heartfelt tribute and a great debt of gratitude go out to the wonderful people of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.  Their rescues of pets from homes, apartments, and buildings damaged or lost to the Manhattan terror attack goes far beyond the miracle of saving Precious the cat.  Over 150 pets were rescued and treated for multiple injuries—primarily shock, dehydration, breathing problems, and burns.  The ASPCA also set up a pet rescue hotline for concerned and worried owners, as well as counseling service for those individuals who weren’t as fortunate as the Kerrs were.  The pets rescued included rabbits, dogs, reptiles, and of course cats!’”

Reflections from my Scrapbook

I used to wonder if the Romans recognized the fall of the empire was occurring while it was going on, or did they all succumb to the violent entertainments with which the mindless masses were kept occupied—Christians fed to the lions or burned as torches in the arena, and suddenly the glory that was Rome was no more.

Is there that much difference today when more millions go berserk voting for an American idol,  than ever turn out to vote in elections?  Or  are more interested in the news of the day about arrests of multimillionaire basketball, football or “movie stars,” who drink too much, drive too fast, abuse their “partners” or even spectators in the stands?

Memorial Day and even July 4th are something these people know little about.  Catherine Drinker Bowen’s claim (author of Miracle at Philadelphia, the story of the writing of the Constitution), that America’s young people today know little about the 4th was proven correct when this past 4th, a talk radio host interviewed a middle-aged woman from her voice-sound, asking her questions about the reason for the celebration.  Her replies were amusing but pathetic.  She thought we separated from Greece! Even that was pure guesswork, she knew she didn’t know!  This is a condition deliberately created through schemes laid long ago which came into fruition in San Francisco at the writing of the charter of the United Nations. Now it is over sixty years since our youth have been taught from textbooks denigrating the foundations of our government and what was created in Philadelphia.

In San Francisco, there was a regular cadre of Soviet agents working on the formation of the UN.  Stalin didn’t need to be there, he had his agents there in droves, chief among them, of course, was Alger Hiss who was in charge of the whole shebang.  I have dropped Hiss’s name into conversations within recent months and was dismayed to be asked, “Who’s he?” Standing behind Hiss in the shadows, fellow members on the payroll of the State Department, was a whole cadre of Soviet secret agents, some of whom were later unmasked, and others still unnamed, making policies which have changed America’s destiny ever since.

No wonder Whittaker Chambers who blew the whistle on Hiss, sadly remarked when he left the Communist Party and became a “Witness” against it and its participants, that he had joined the “losing side.”  Hiss, the unrepentant, ultimate Judas, who could never admit his affiliations lest it undo that which he had helped create, the UN and its many satellites, designed to drain America dry, but most particularly fulfilled, as an ancient Chinese warlord centuries ago, described, Supreme excellence was in not letting the enemy even know there was a war going on.

The United States was the first country to be created since the Roman Empire, drawn together by ethnicity, and above all, by a common ideal.  The greatest instrument in that creation was George Washington, a man of singular integrity, so unique a personality, in fact, that one of UNESCO’s minions decreed that he should be eliminated from mention in American history lest children be inspired to emulate him!  And so it has been.

Daniel Webster in his 1832 tribute and eulogy to George Washington, predicted about the new  republic, “If these columns fall, they will be raised not again.  Like the Coliseum and the Parthenon, they will be destined to a mournful and a melancholy immortality.  Bitterer tears, however, will flow over them than were ever shed over the monuments of Roman or Grecian art, for they will be the monuments of a more glorious edifice than Greece or Rome ever saw, the edifice of constitutional American liberty.”

It would appear the Republic is well into its death throes now.
